I have chosen to create an enlarged model of a Locust for a museum exhibit for one of the two projects. I intend to sculpt the Locust showing all its natural detail at a scale of my choice. I will try to use a live reference to study the anatomy of these insects to help my sculpt appear as realistic as possible. This project will allow me to demonstrate my time management, sculpting abilities and knowledge of materials and technical processes. Through creating a realistic representation of a Locust I will particularly be able to improve on my skills in the area of moulding and casting, which I haven’t had much experience in during my time on the course. I enjoy sculpting so I was keen to do a project that will give me the opportunity to illustrate my abilities in this area whilst also improving them.
